Hosting

Hosting refers to the process of storing website files and data on a server that can be accessed via the internet. Web hosting services provide the technology and infrastructure necessary for websites to be accessible online. There are several types of web hosting available, each with their own features, benefits, and limitations.

Types of Website Hosting

  1. Shared Hosting: Shared hosting is the most common type of hosting and involves multiple websites sharing a single server. It is an affordable option for small businesses and individuals who are just starting out with a website. However, since resources are shared among multiple websites, it can be less reliable and less secure than other types of hosting.
  2. VPS Hosting: A more powerful option than shared hosting is VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting. Multiple websites share a single server, but each website has its own dedicated resources and space on the server. This provides greater control, security, and flexibility than shared hosting, but does come at a higher cost. Additionally, you will have much more responsibility to maintain your slice of the server and not only your website.
  3. Dedicated Hosting: With dedicated hosting, a single website has an entire server to itself. This provides the highest level of control, security, and performance, but is also the most expensive option. It is typically used by large businesses or websites with high traffic and resource requirements.
  4. Cloud Hosting: Cloud hosting involves multiple servers working together to host a website, providing scalability, flexibility, and high availability. It is a popular option for websites with unpredictable traffic patterns or resource requirements. If demand spikes suddenly, more resources are allocated to keep the site running.
  5. Managed Hosting: Managed hosting involves a third-party company managing the technical aspects of hosting, such as server maintenance, security, and backups. This frees up website owners to focus on content creation and other aspects of running their website.

In summary, hosting is the process of storing website files and data on a server that can be accessed via the internet. There are several types of web hosting available, each with their own features, benefits, and limitations. Website owners should carefully consider their hosting needs and choose a provider and plan that best meets their requirements and budget.

At Pendari, we recommend that our clients host with us. We can deploy your site quickly – usually within a few hours from when you are ready to launch. We also run regular maintenance on our sites – backups and code updates. This is a service we cannot offer if you host elsewhere.
